CORPES11 is an interdisciplinary workshop whose scope is situated at the crossroads between angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES),  some related spectroscopies, and many-body theories of strongly correlated electron systems. The program will be a balanced fusion of currently well-established and newly emerging topics, with ample time for discussions. 


CORPES11 follows the scope and motivation of the previous workshops CORPES05 and CORPES07 held at MPIPKS in Dresden and CORPES09 held at the PSI in Switzerland. Due to a growing interest in the workshop, the number of participants will be allowed to increase to 120. We will preserve the workshop spirit, i.e., a linear schedule with no parallel sessions and ample time for discussion after each presentation as well as between sessions. Applicants to the workshop will be selected to give either oral or poster presentations, with the latter being given significant weight to the program including short oral poster “flash sessions”, best poster awards, etc.

Topological insulators and strong spin-orbit coupled materials
d-electron systems, including iron pnictides,  cobaltates,  manganites and cuprates    
Doped Mott insulators and pseudogap phenomena
Charge and spin density wave systems
f-electron systems in the presence of hybridization and/or extreme mass enhancement
single and multilayer graphene
Surfaces, polar surfaces, interfaces and systems manipulated in-situ
Low-dimensional correlated systems,including impurities,nanostructures,quantum wells and quantum dots

Many-body theories of correlated quantum matter in solids

New methods, such as continuous-time quantum Monte-Carlo algorithms
Electron-boson coupling
Momentum-dependent self-energy functions
Strong correlations beyond the quasiparticle picture
Quantum criticality and competing order parameters
Non-Fermi-liquid behavior in one- and higher-dimensional systems

Mechanisms of the photoemission process

Revision of the sudden approximation in the low photon energy regime
Multi-photon processes
One-step theory in the presence of correlations
Matrix elements including the polarization and final-state effects
Relation of the electron removal spectrum to other correlation functions
